petaluma renovation: KITCHEN ESSENTIALS

Nikki Yazxhi

we had outgrown it, and we needed the ‘space’ to work better
and to update all the appliances.

We had renovated the kitchen once since moving in, but with the boys being older, our whole kitchen focus has changed… not only did we need bigger {and updated} appliances to accomodate the boys growing appetites, we also wanted a kitchen / dining room where we could entertain more.

As you know hubby {Adam} is an amazing cook {some of his recipes will be in the upcoming July issue of Delicious magazine} so on the top of our ‘kitchen wishlist’ was his dream oven and stovetop.

Originally Adam {hubby Adam}  wanted a gas burner stove top and one huge oven… that was until he saw this video {with Adam Liaw} which made him start to consider induction…

… we then went to see the ASKO display at our local Winnings Appliances, and were both blown away. The Elements design; the stove top that offered both gas and induction; the size of the ovens {inside}; the warming drawer; all so beautiful – and as we have found out, so amazing to cook with. But don’t just take what I’m writing, here’s what Adam {hubby} thinks…

“Initially I was wary of both induction and the need for multiple ovens. The ASKO combination wok / induction cooktop provided me with a gas option. To be honest, the hardest thing to get over here was just getting induction compatible cookware. Induction cooking is fast (very fast when boiling) and incredibly precise. I now really only use the gas hob when searing steaks in my large cast iron skillet or when using a wok.”

“The twin oven arrangement has both conventional / fan forced and microwave / conventional fan forced. For us, its the perfect mix and allows for a wide array of cooking for large dinner parties, gatherings or just family dinners. Again, there is a great preciseness with both ASKO ovens and their cooking heat is amazing. I’d be hard pressed to change now.”
