There are some staple books in my collection and Essentialism by Greg McKeown is one of those. It is an annual read to remind me of the fundamental principles to live by and create a life by design not default. For Greg McKeown “Essentialism means living by design, not by default.
Instead of making choices reactively, the Essentialist deliberately distinguishes the vital from the trivial many, eliminates the nonessentials, and then removes obstacles so the essential things have a clear, smooth passage. In other words Essentialism is a disciplined systematic approach for determining where our highest point of contribution lies, then making execution of those things almost effortless”.
If it is a new habit for you then it’s useful to know that new habits take approximately 66 days to hard wire in, so don’t give up after a week or a month, be patient and supportive of your new habits and build the muscle of will power and discipline with your momentum and commitment.
It is a great reminder as we get busier with our end of year activities to reflect and remember, if it isn’t a clear yes, then it’s a clear no.
Be well
