We chatted with Laure to uncover her career highlights, daily rituals, and secrets to staying calm and collected amidst the hustle…

We asked Laure the bellamumma questions, here’s what she said…

You, in three words? Committed, emotional and very very busy

What inspires you? My children …. It is for them I always want to do more, be better.

What was your first ever job? Waitress in a very busy bar in the heart of Brussells in Belgium …one of my craziest / wildest summer.

What did you want to be ‘when you were little’? A Movie Director

How did working at Raes come about? I posted (rare occasion) that I was moving to the Northern Rivers from a Sydney and my former colleague and now friend Francesca Webster almost immediately contacted me to ask where I was going to work. She had just taken taken the General Manager position at Raes … we had a coffee she asked me to join the team … the rest is history.

Explain your usual day? At work or from waking up? I am blessed with 3 beautiful children under 4 years old – needless to say I actually woken up multiple times at night… mornings are hectic but we have an organised-ish routine that gets me out the door with my 3 by 8 … when I get to work I feel a) I already had a full day, b) work is a bit of a refuge from a busy family life. I check on the host team than go on my inspection round of the property and say hello the the different teams… the rest is a combination of emails/ projects / meeting staff and guest interactions – an ideal mix. It is usually difficult to leave work …there never really is an end to a hotel’s cycle … there is constantly something to do or someone to talk to …then rush to collect the kiddos and head home for dinner , bath….routine.

What ‘makes your day’? A good laugh at work – I work with truly funny people and a hug from my husband

Three things in your life you can’t live without? My family, a drink with good friends and my whatsapp to call my family in France almost every day

4 fave songs you’re currently listening to? Only kids songs currently otherwise I listen to Audiobooks

Fave place to escape to? My bed!

How do you relax? Swimming is my quiet moment.

Best piece of life advice you’ve received? I am not sure I heard it, learned it myself or just know it: Anything I need or want to change at work or in my private life needs to start with a change with me.

What will you be doing 5 years time? We have always dreamed of having our own business but with a young family those plans seem more distant now – I would love to still be with the Raes collection
