Nikki Yazxhi

how many times have you ‘pinned’ it on Pinterest? Us too, which is why we just had to share more of ‘Naomi and Caleb’s’ wedding…

Inspired? You can see why we wanted to share more of Naomi and Caleb’s wedding pics + we thought you’d want to know a little more about ‘their wedding story’ and details {all via one of our fave wedding sites, The Lane, if you’re getting married, you really must visit}:

HOW WE MET: Singing in a church choir. Ha ha, not even joking!
OUR ENGAGEMENT STORY: It was a surprise! Caleb said he was going on tour with his band. I was sad to see him go and tearily helped him pack and dropped him to the airport. That afternoon at sundown I was at the river bank with my friend to take some photos. As we walked down towards the river who else but Caleb was standing there; flowers in hand, under an oak tree, dressed in a suit and surrounded with hanging candles. When I realized what was happening I ran down the hill in a flood of tears as he got down on one knee. Caleb was quite smug that he had successfully tricked me and I was so happy that he wasn’t actually going away. It was magical. The surprises were not over yet, after a romantic drink beside the river (where we had one of our first dates) I arrived home with Caleb to a house full of my closest friends who Caleb had secretly invited to help celebrate this long awaited and joyous occasion!?
MARRIAGE TO US MEANS: A lifelong promise between soul mates.
WEDDING LOCATION: My Nanna and Poppy have a beautiful property near the Queen Mary Falls in a place called Killarney. As well as being picturesque the location was sentimental to us.
THEME/STYLE: Country style wedding – with an emphasis on celebrating with family and friends in a relaxed atmosphere.
BUDGET: Thanks to family and friends we were able to do everything we wanted for under $10,000!
PHOTOGRAPHY: Ryder Evans was the perfect photographer for our wedding. We wanted to capture natural moments throughout the day with as little posing as possible. Ryder was effortless and captured every special moment without it ever feeling forced or unnatural. We are very grateful to him and love the way he photographed the best day of our lives
NAOMI’S DRESS: Original 1950’s Chantilly lace princess dress. I made a few small alterations to the sleeves and skirt.
NAOMI’S SHOES: My favourite old worn pair of boots
BRIDESMAID’S DRESSES: Naomi found a wonderful Brisbane designer, Fabled and True who made the dresses out of floral vintage materials.
WEDDING RINGS: Art Deco. The wedding ring was Naomi’s Nanna’s which I had reshaped to fit the engagement ring. Caleb’s ring is a leather band that Naomi bought in China.
GROOMSMEN ATTIRE: Bone chino pants, a formal white dress shirt with a blue sports blazer and old brown leather riding boots
HAIR: Naomi’s bridesmaids worked together to create a braided style
INVITATIONS: The invitations were old sheets of music folded into envelopes.
FAVOURS/BONBONNIERE: Brown paper bags to fill with lollies from the dessert bar. They had each guests name stamped on them and tied with a napkin my Nanna made, twine and a sprig of flowers.
CAKE TYPE: Chocolate cake with butter icing
WEDDING MUSIC: Ceremony song- ‘That dress looks nice on you’ by Sufjian Stevens and ‘Adventures in your own backyard’ by Patrick Watson.
After ceremony song – ‘When i’m 64’ by the Beatles.
First dance – ‘Girl from Ipanema’ by Antonio Carlos Jobim
FOOD & BEVERAGES: A good old sit down country roast, catered by the cook at the local pub! Antipasti, roast meal, dessert bar. Red and white wine, beer and tea and coffee.
