Before Marcus starts posting about how meditation and mindfulness can help you, here’s a little more about what makes him tick…

You, in three words?
Loyal, loving, free spirited.

What inspires you?
Seeing students I’ve taught to meditate really thriving in their lives.
Continually stepping into the unknown and working on my own evolution.
My beautiful wife and daughters…The three of them are so wise, compassionate and loving.
Surfing. The power and beauty of the ocean is awe-inspiring. It’s also a wonderful teacher of the art of flow and surrender.

What was your first ever job?
My first real job was as a dish pig at an ‘all you can’ eat Italian joint with no dishwasher and a really angry owner. Halfway through my 1st night, drowning in dirty dishes, he yelled at me to take the garbage out. After a moment of reflection at the bins I decided this was definitely not a career for me and promptly jumped the fence and ran home. He’s probably still wondering what happened to that useless little dish pig.

What did you want to be ‘when you were little’?
Hooker for the Balmain Tigers.

How did Marcus Hamill Meditation come about?
I learnt to meditate around eight years ago and was so blown away by how much it improved my life that I felt compelled to teach others. At first it was a side job while I continued working as a writer and director, but over the years it has grown and evolved to the point where now it’s my full time job. I’m actually about to launch a new brand ‘The Sattva Life’ to encompass everything we do, including training meditation, mindfulness, Sattva Yoga, life coaching, retreats, as well as working with athletes and businesses in the field of consciousness and human potential.

Explain your usual day?
Fortunately for me, my day’s always different. It could look something like this… wake early, meditate and practice yoga, help get the kids off to school, sneak a quick surf in after school drop off, work from my home studio, take the dog for a walk, meditate, dinner and teach Vedic Meditation course at night.

What ‘makes your day’?
Living life exactly how I want to live. The fact that I absolutely love my job means that work’s never a chore.
Pumping surf certainly helps.


Three things in your life you can’t live without?
My family, Meditation/yoga, surfing.

Being told I should learn to meditate.
