here are six of our fave kiwi cocktails – perfection for the warm months ahead!

kiwi sangria

kiwi sangria

what you need:
2 1/2 cups cubed honeydew melon
1 {750 ml} bottle white wine
1/2 cup brandy
1/4 cup tequila
3 kiwis, peeled and sliced
1 lime, sliced
1 cup club soda or seltzer water
Fresh mint for garnish, if desired
what you do:
1. Add 1 1/2 cups of the honeydew melon and 1/4 cup of the white wine to your blender. Blend on high for 2 minutes.
2.Transfer the puree to a large jug or mason jar, then stir in the remaining white wine, the brandy and the tequila.
3. Add the kiwi slices, lime slices and the remaining 1 cup of cubed honeydew melon. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
4. Before serving, gently stir in the club soda or seltzer water. Divide into glasses, making sure to add a few pieces of kiwi to each glass. Garnish with fresh mint sprigs.

kiwi lime mojito

makes 1 cocktail
what you need:
For the Mint Simple Syrup:
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
2 sprigs mint
For the Cocktail:
11 mint leaves, plus more for garnish
3 lime wedges
11/2 ounces {3 tablespoons} Mint Simple Syrup
11/2 ounces {3 tablespoons} pureed kiwi
2 ounces {4 tablespoons} rum
ice cubes
club soda
kiwi slices, for garnish
what you do:
1. To make the Mint Simple Syrup: Combine water and sugar in a small sauce pan. Bring to a boil, stirring the sugar to dissolve. Lower heat, cover and simmer for about 5 minutes. Turn off heat, drop in the mint leaves. Let it cool in the refrigerator. Strain.
2. In a tall glass glass, muddle the mint, lime and simple syrup. Stir in the pureed kiwi and run. Add the ice and top with club soda. Stir again, and garnish with mint and kiwi.

makes 6 cocktails
what you need:
2 cups kiwi, peeled and diced
12 mint leaves, divided
2 tablespoons sugar, divided
3 limes, juiced
2 cups high quality vodka
2 cups tonic water (or coconut flavored sparkling water)
ice cubes
1 kiwi, peeled and thinly sliced
what you do:
1. Line six glasses up and fill each with 1/3 cup of diced kiwis, 2 mint leaves, 1 teaspoon sugar, and ½ lime juiced.
2. Muddle together the contents of each glass until fully combined.
3. Fill each glass with ice and top off with 1/3 cup vodka and 1/3 cup tonic water.
4. Stir, finish each with a kiwi garnish and serve.

kiwi margaritas

kiwi margarita

makes 1 cocktail
what you need:
2 ounces Grand Marnier
1 1/2 ounces Tequila (I prefer silver)
2 ounces lime juice
2 1/2 ounces kiwi simple syrup [recipe below]
lime + fresh kiwi or kiwi berries for garnish
coarse salt for the rim
kiwi simple syrup
4 kiwi fruit, peeled
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
what you do:
1. Rim the ridge of your glass with a lime wedge and dip in a mix of coarse salt and fill the glass with ice.
2. In a cocktail shaker, combine the tequila, grand marnier, kiwi simple syrup and lime juice with ice, and shake for about 30 seconds.
3. Pour over ice and squeeze in lime slices and add a few kiwi berries or kiwi chunks.
kiwi simple syrup: Add the kiwi fruit to a food processor and blend until pureed. Combine the sugar and water in a saucepan and bring to a boil, whisking until the sugar dissolves. Turn off the heat and let the mixture cool. Once cool, add it to the food processor with the kiwi and blend until you have kiwi syrup! This can be stored in the fridge, sealed well, for a week or so.

kiwi tom collins

kiwi and mint tom collins

makes 1 cocktail
what you need:
1 cup of ice
2 oz dry gin
1 oz simple syrup
the juice of one lime
1 whole kiwi peeled and diced
1-2 mint leaves
club soda to top it off.
what you do:
1. In a small bowl muddle kiwi and mint leaves together. Add to the bottom of your glass. Add in your ice.
2. In a drink shaker, shake gin, simple syrup and lime juice together.
3. Pour over ice. Top off with club soda and give a small stir.

kiwi caipirinha

makes 1 cocktail
what you need:
2 oz cachaça
1/2 lime (quartered)
2 barspoons fine granulated sugar
1/2 green + 1/2 gold kiwi {peeled and quartered} OR 1 whole green kiwi if gold variety cannot be found.
lime wedge for garnish
what you do:
1. In the bottom of a shaker, muddle the lime and sugar to release juice and oils.
2. Top with kiwi and cachaça.
3. Fill the shaker with ice and shake quickly for 5 seconds.
4. Pour the entire contents of the shaker into a rocks glass.
5. Garnish with lime wedge and serve.
