8 WAYS TO MAKE LASH EXTENSIONS LAST LONGER

IF YOU’VE FALLEN IN LOVE WITH LASH EXTENSIONS AGAIN, LIKE WE ARE, YOU WANT THEM TO STAY LOOKING AMAZING FOR AS LONG AS POSSIBLE. YES? We asked Sophie, lash guru & owner of Beaches Lash Co, her top tips to help your extensions last longer.

1. Avoid steam / heat including spas, saunas, hot showers and even the steam from an oven so when you are checking your Christmas dinner let the steam out before you look in the oven!

2. Try to sleep on your back: This might sound like a crazy request (unless you already sleep on your back), but it’s really important directly following your application, since the glue takes a while to dry fully and you’ll otherwise get weird kinks.

3. Treat your lashes with TLC: When removing your eye makeup (liner, shadow, etc.), gently go over the area with a cleansing wipe instead of placing cotton pads or puffs over your lids — not only could you eventually weaken the extensions and mess them up, the cotton fibres get stuck on lashes (not cute). Wash around the eye when cleansing your face and use an oil-free makeup remover if they have to clean makeup off.

4. Nourish your lashes: Apply a lash serum daily to condition the hairs around your eyes. We love UKLash {available in both salons} which is loaded with polypeptides to encourage growth and strengthen the hairs.

5. Avoid oil-based products: Oil breaks downs the glue that holds up the lashes. So she encourages clients to avoid oil-cleansers, oil makeup removers, and anything that is oil-based, even micellar water can contain oil so check the ingredients!

6. Avoid waterproof eye products: Waterproof anything is really tough to get off. It usually takes a strong oil cleanser and a lot of rubbing to remove it. You don’t need mascara or liner when your lash extensions are in, but in the event you still want to wear them, it’s better to go the non-waterproof route so that it’s easy to remove.

7. Brush them daily: To prevent any criss-crossing or wonky-looking lashes, use a clean mascara wand. Close one eye, place the spoolie on top of your lashes, then roll the brush over lashes to keep them defined.

8. Don’t play with them: Your eyelashes shed naturally, so when you have extensions, this will help push them off. If an extension looks out of place, avoid playing with it or twisting or pulling it off — you’ll risk losing your natural lashes. Let them come out on their own.
