A healthful diet is also important for lowering anxiety levels. Add as many plant-based options as possible—and avoid alcohol. A few drinks may seem like a good way to calm down, but alcohol interferes with your sleep. It can also create an unhealthy dependence that may increase, not decrease, your anxiety over the long run.
