life lesson: THE PAST DOES NOT EQUAL THE FUTURE

YOUR PAST DOES NOT EQUAL YOUR FUTURE!
This is a common, disempowering belief that is totally not true.
Here’s how to change your mindset and move forward…

“It may of course be difficult to be optimistic about the future when negative things have happened or when you have held a pessimistic view of life for a long time,” says Henry Edberg from {one of our favourite blogs} the Positivity Blog.

“It could be uncomfortable to make a change because you have been living in your comfort zone for quite some time now, but¬†making positive changes both within and in your world is possible,” he adds.

If you doubt that or in your own ability to make that change then start by taking just one small step into something new. Here’s what Henry suggests you do:

1. Do one thing you usually don’t do, do something that you feel “isn’t you” but in a positive way.

2. Go out running for just 3 or 5 minutes if you want to get into better shape.

3. Instead of finding all the things that could go wrong in an upcoming meeting or on a date give that thinking a break just this once. And think of all the things that could go right and all the positive things it could lead to in the long run.

4. Think of 3 things you can appreciate about yourself and who you are – it doesn’t have to be big things – instead of being so critical of the smallest things about yourself.

Take just one small step forward.

And then later on, if you like, you can keep building on that.

And shape your future in a way that looks less and less like your past as you move forward, step by small step.
