beauty insider: HOW TO BE PERFECTLY ‘HAIR BARE’ FOR SUMMER

TIPS AND TRICKS ON HOW TO BE PERFECTLY ‘HAIR BARE’ READY FOR THE ‘BARE-YOUR-BODY-SEASON’…
Here are three different hair removal ‘ways’ + insider tips on each…

1. SHAVING is the quickest, cheapest and most portable way to remove hair – it’s also the
most temporary…
To make it as effective as possible, follow these tips:

* Allow your hair to absorb water for at least three minutes while in shower before shaving.
This causes the hair to swell, making it easier to remove.

* You can use conditioner instead of shaving cream. It moisturises skin and lubricates for a closer shave.

* Don’t shave with shower gel or soap. They dry out skin, making it more susceptible to
razor burn and cuts.

* Change your blade or razor every five to six shaves.

2. WAXING is probably the most common long-term hair removal techniques ~
even though there’s an ouch-factor…
The good news is it gets less painful the more you have it done ~ here’s some insider waxing wisdom:

* Exfoliate with a body scrub or loofah three times a week to discourage ingrown hairs.

* Minimise ingrown hairs by using hot wax rather than strip wax.

* Allow a few days between waxing and sun exposure, as newly exposed areas will be sensitive.

* Apply baby teething gel to eyebrows and upper lip before waxing to numb the area and reduce pain.

3. LASER TREATMENTS permanently reduce hair growth by 80 to 95 percent…
Here’s the must-know info:

* It takes on average four or six treatments and generally there’s a two to four week hair-free period between treatments.

* During the initial consultation clients will be given a test patch to experience the sensation and if they find the treatment uncomfortable, a topical anesthetic cream can be applied prior to numb the area up to 80 percent. The procedure has been compared to ‘an elastic band flicking the skin’.

* It’s normal to experience some redness and mild swelling afterwards which is calmed with a cooling gel.
