glow & tell: KATE MOSS

KATE MOSS WOULD HAVE TO BE THE MOST ICONIC MODEL OF OUR TIME #loveher
here she chats to Vogue about make-up, bad beauty habits, insider shoots tips and how to recreate that famous “Kate Moss” hair.

kate’s skincare: I don’t really have a regime, it’s the bare essentials! I use a face wash and then sometimes I use a serum but usually I go straight for the Decorté AQ Meliority Intensive Cream, and I’ll add a couple of drops of the Decorté Vitality Tincture too. It works. You really see the difference. I gave it to all the girls for Christmas and they loved it. It has onsen water in – I actually went to the onsens when I was in Japan, they’re amazing.

beauty secrets: Ice in water really works for me, that’s my favourite trick. If I’m feeling a bit puffy or tired I fill a bowl of water with ice cubes and a bit of cucumber. You just stick your head in and out for a few minutes and you feel fresh as a daisy! It takes all the puffiness away and brings the blood to the surface. It’s a winner. I actually learned it watching Mommie Dearest – Faye Dunaway’s character does it. It’s an old Hollywood trick.

hair insider: If I’m getting my hair done then I like it to look like me, but done. Sam McKnight is the one, he does it a lot. Just a bit of a gentle tonging and then backcombing at the crown – that’s real fashion language isn’t it? But a bit of height, anyway. I don’t do it myself though, I have a natural wave and I wash it every day. Lila has my hair and she is always straightening it – I used to straighten mine when I was at school but I can’t be bothered now.

“A great trick they do on photoshoots is doing these little braids underneath your hair to pull your skin up, like a little lift. It’s amazing. That’s another old Hollywood trick. I think they had to know all that stuff before there was retouching, they had to do it all by hand.”

make-up routine: For everyday I’ll use a bit of concealer, some mascara and a bit of lipstick. Decorté’s lipsticks are great – I did a lip palette with them actually but it’s not available in the UK. It’s more subtle rather than real “lipstick” lipstick, you just pat it on. And Clinique does a really good mascara, it’s an oldie but a goodie. If I’m going out I’ll use eyeliner, usually brown, and smudge it. I normally use my fingers, but I do love brushes too. My daughter’s are all lined up perfectly. She knows more about it all than I do really, I get more good stuff from her than she does from me. She’s over all my stuff – she wants the new things – but her friends love rifling through it.

beauty icons: Ooh all those Seventies chicks. I love Anita Pallenberg, obviously. And Marianne Faithfull and Faye Dunaway. So many of them.

bad beauty habits Messy make-up bags are probably my worst beauty habit. I’m terrible. Everything is spilled, there’s lipstick everywhere. Sometimes when I have a morning free I’ll clean it all up or wash all my brushes or something, if I’m just pottering, but I’m definitely not fanatical about it at all.
