bM expert: 5 WAYS TO MAKE YOUR BED LIKE A LUXE HOTEL BED

HOW MUCH DO YOU LOVE HOTEL BEDS? HOW GREAT WOULD IT BE TO HAVE ONE AT HOME?

We asked Anthony Metcalfe, Guest Services Manager at Park Hyatt Sydney {one of our most-favourite hotels}, how to create a dream bed in your own bedroom… {now, if we could get room service happening as well!!!!}

Here are Anthony’s 5 expert tip to creating the perfect luxe bed:

Sheet thread count, counts: Thread count is the real measure of that special feeling you get when you sink into a hotel bed – you need anything higher than 600 to get this special effect!

The importance of bed toppers: The best bed has a the topper in built, however to add even extra luxury to your sleeping experience, you can add a feather bed topper that makes the bed not only soft but as the warm air get caught in the feathers, even warmer too!

How many pillows? Pillows are the most personal part of the bed – whilst you might love feather, someone else might love latex or foam! Park Hyatt Sydney offers as our standard four oversized super king feather pillows, however naturally a pillow of choice is available by simple requesting from one of our butlers. At home, this is worthwhile spending a reasonable amount to ensure they remain fluffy and soft. Also, adding European pillows can make a bed feel ‘luxe’ when reading in bed!

What you need on bedside tables? Essential for any bedside table is iKOU’s ‘Sleepyhead’ – a linen spray made from essential Australian oils that aid sleep, freshen your linen and make the room smell fantastic!

Tricks to making the bed so it’s look like the Park Hyatt: The best way to make a bed feel luxe is with iron, lightly starched sheets and duvet covers – every part of the bed should feel crisp and wrinkle free! When making a bed, ensure the sheets are tightly pulled when you are making the bed to give it ‘tension’.

Give your duvet a rough shake to fluff the feathers and make it soft and airy, and when you shake it up allow it to land in place on the bed and then pull the sides to make the top tense and wrinkle free – this will give you bed that ultimate luxury look!
