IT’S TIME TO GET SMART ABOUT YOUR GOAL-SETTING

here’s the inside tip to staying on track and  kicking your life goals

Want to lose weight, get fitter, or learn a new skill like cooking, you need to be strategic about making a new behaviour stick. “This is where concept of SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and time-based) goals comes in”, says psychiatrist, Dr. Valerie Taylor.

Here’s what she means:

* Make your goal more specific than “lose weight”.
* Make it measurable, so that you can track your success, like work out at least three times a week.
* Make it attainable, such as registering at a nearby cooking school.
* And, of course, make your goal time-based with a due date, so that you can reach your success.

Doing SMART goal-setting breaks your goals down into bite-size achievable actions which avoids you feeling overwhelmed and frustrated so you’ll be less likely to quit.

Win-win!
