Four experts, four ways to love your way:
Try these moves moves, recommended by Sonja Millar, Beauty Specialist and owner of Seka’s Beauty Case to make you feel body-beautiful…
ARMS: Boost circulation and exfoliate away any little bumps with a salt rub. Moisten a cup of sea salt with sweet almond or olive oil until it forms a sticky paste, then massage into the skin, up and down the arm in circular movements. Rinse, towel dry and apply body lotion.
TUMMY: If your stomach isn’t as flat as you’d like, it could be due to poor posture and weak abdominal muscles. Improve your tummy instantly by standing up straight and imagining your spine is a long and elongated S.
BACK: Enliven sluggish skin and get rid of any ‘bacne’ by applying a mud mask. Mud can be messy but it works miracles by attracting impurities and leaving your skin super-clear and feeling divine. Leave for at least 10-15 minutes before showering off.
BOTTOM: Zap problem zones like your bottom with a strong shower jet. With your shower nozzle work over your skin in circular motions to kick-start your circulation and move toxins. Switch from hot to cold water to get the maximum benefits.
THIGHS: Skin brushing not only gets rid of dead skin cells, it breaks down fat in toxin-laden tissue and improves the body’s lymphatic draining system and blood flow. With a natural bristle brush or massage mitt, using long upward movements, start at the feet and work up the legs and across the hips and the bottom. If you have sensitive skin, use your mitt with soap or shower gel to minimise damage by decreasing friction.
Napoleon Perdis, Celebrity Makeup Artist and founder of Napoleon Perdis explains to enhance your best features by being the master of your make-up…
COMPLEXION: Look instantly younger by not applying foundation to the forehead. Coverage in this area is usually not essential and it will stop ageing of the skin and keep your hair from getting oily.
EYES: Enhance your eyes by pumping up the volume with your mascara. Apply three thin coats to get the maximum effect! If you want extra glam, add a few individual lashes to the outer corners of the eyes.
CHEEKBONES: Applying blush to your cheekbones instantly “lifts” the complexion. Lightly contour under your cheekbones with a bronze blush and then pat a touch gold blush on top of your cheekbones.
MOUTH: Give yourself a killer pout by making your lips the focus. Use neutral colours on the eyes, then pump up the lips with bright pinks or oranges. Apply with a lip brush for accuracy, then lightly line the lips afterwards for a clean and crisp finish.
To maintain dream hair, while adding a little pamper time to your schedule, Pantene Hair Stylist, Louka recommends these do’s and don’t’s…
DO ensure you stick to your regular salon appointments. A trim every six weeks will keep your style in shape and nasty split ends to a minimum. Plus a head massage at the salon is always a great time to kick back and relax!
DO try and have a heat free day once a week by locking away your hair dryer and embracing a natural look. This is not only great for your hair, it will give you more time to do the things you really want to do.
DO treat your hair two to three times a week. This is especially important for those of us with chemically-treated hair as it will help to protect your hair from damage cause by everyday styling. Run a relaxing bath and try the new Pantene Deep Fortifying Treatment (it only takes three minutes). When used with the shampoo and conditioner, it will noticeably reduce the amount of hair that breaks off and falls on the floor in one month!
DON’T brush you hair when wet. It stretches and snaps the hair. Use a wide toothed comb and work carefully from the ends to the roots.
DON’T be rough. Aggressive towel drying after washing rubs the hairs together, causing them to snap, knot and frizz. Instead, gently squeeze moisture from the hair with the towel to prevent damage and hair fall due to breakage.
DON’T use heated styling products when wet. Using straightening irons or curling wands on wet or damp hair will fry it.
“Scent can certainly make you feel sexier,” says Michael Edwards, the perfume experts’ expert and author of ‘Fragrances of the World’ guidebooks. “Smell is obviously linked to our sexuality and some experts believe that hormones released from glands in the groin and armpit act as powerful sexual attractants in the way that pheromones released by animals do. The sense of confidence the right perfume can give, plus the attractive chemical cocktail it helps create, can certainly be a great turn on!”
When shopping for your new perfect scent it’s all about knowing which fragrance family you prefer. “Because our sense of smell is so emotional, we assume that fragrances are confusing, a jumble of different perfumes with no rhyme or reason,” says Edwards.
“It’s not true,” he says. “When you classify the fragrances you have worn, you’ll probably find that they fall mostly into just two or three fragrance families. Once you know the fragrance families you especially like, with advice from a perfume sales consultant, it will be easy to find other fragrances that fall into the same family.”
