JUSTINE CULLEN IS Editor-in-Chief of ELLE Australia & Mother-in-Chief to Milo, Iggy and Scout

+ she’s super-stylish, clever, funny… and a gorgeous friend

Juz and I worked together YEARS and YEARS ago on Girlfriend magazine, {happy days} – and now our boys goes to school together! {How times have changed!} One thing that hasn’t changed is Juz’s effortless style, so I’m so chuffed that she’s sharing her ‘glow & tell’ beauty tips and tricks with us:

What’s the best beauty advice you’ve ever been given or have discovered? Dr Daniel Maes was the head of Estee Lauder’s R&D department for many years, and I was lucky enough to interview him multiple times. He was always very honest – he’d say things like ‘We still make toners because a certain group of New York ladies like them, but you don’t need them anymore.’ And he was always very clear that he considered inflammation a key cause of ageing. So my strategy when it comes to ageing all comes down to one simple rule: avoiding inflammation. I always to try protect my skin with sunscreens, anti-oxidants, by not over-cleansing or stripping it back and keeping it as soothed as possible.

What are your can’t live-without beauty products? Eve Lom Morning Time Cleanser, MAC Face and Body Foundation, Laura Mercier Secret Concealer, Dermaquest Stem Cell 3D Moisturiser, Terax Conditioner, Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate, , and right now there’s a Mecca Body Oil I’m obsessing over.

What’s your best time-saving beauty tip? I’m a big fan of outsourcing to the professionals. Appointments are a hassle but the results last longer so you need less daily maintenance. I go to Lashroom by Jini for lash extensions once every few weeks {which leaves me pretty much happy to forgo all other make-up if I need to}; Renya Xydis and Travis Balke for a hair cut every four months or so that I can leave to air dry without styling pretty much ever, and blowdries that last for days if I need one; gel manicures and pedicures once a fortnight keep me looking professionally polished {I know they’re bad for me, I don’t really care}; and before any special event I always get a St Tropez spray tan from 54 Park {which, um, allow me to avoid exercise, lol but true}.
