I INTERVIEW A LOT OF SKINCARE EXPERTS WHEN I’M RESEARCHING STORIES AND POSTS

and one expert that I met years ago, who is beyond amazing in his field –
is leading anti-ageing specialist, Dr Peter Bakaric

Dr Peter Bakaric is one of Australia’s leading Cosmetic Physicians who practices at the Collagen Face Centre in Sydney, I asked home his five top anti-ageing tips for this post {and for myself -ha} and here’s what he recommends to his clients:

1. Wear sunscreen: My clients continually ask me what’s the best anti-aging cream and sunscreen should be at the top of everyone’s list. This is obviously together with sun avoidance especially at the midday times, suitable protective clothing, hats and avoiding sunbeds like the plague!

2. Drink more water. We have become a dehydrated society and most of us are not drinking the recommended fluid intake for an average sized adult which is around 2 litres a day. Drinking this amount can significantly reduce the chance of various cancers especially: bladder/kidney cancer and bowel cancer due to minimisation of toxin contact. Even breast cancer incidence has been shown to be significantly reduced. Plus, well hydrated skin looks fresher and is more easily able to absorb your anti-ageing creams.

3. Eliminate the bad stuff. Stop smoking and reduce (or eliminate) your alcohol and caffeine intake. {To the majority of anti-aging medical gurus: alcohol and caffeine are the enemy.}

4. Include the good stuff. Eat a good diet with lots of variety and fresh organic fruit and vegetables – and incorporate moderate aerobic and weight resistance exercise into your routine 3 to 4 times a week. Try to get 7-8 hours sleep nightly and make time for stress relief / meditation / yoga.

5. Enlist active creams. There are a new wave of active creams that have been scientifically shown to demonstrate anti-aging properties such as: Fruitacids/Retinols, Active Peptides, Hyaluronic Acid based creams.

Dr PETER BAKARIC
 is not only one of Australia’s leading Cosmetic Physicians, he’s also the co-founding member of the Australasian Society of Cosmetic Physicians – and he’s the creator  of Seruderm an all-in-one
anti-ageing serum.
