the very-inspiring, Kim Peirce from babescrub

Two years ago Kim gave up her career in the corporate world to pursue her own entrepreneurial ventures which resulted in the brand we know and love, babescrub.

We chatted with Kim to find out a little more about her journey and how she got to where she is today:

You, in three words? Made with Love!

What inspires you? Nikki Minaj! Hahahaha – just kidding – inspiration is everywhere for me. I am inspired by my husband, my children, by nature, by new technology, and by other people every day.

What’s your work title? Founder and Director Babescrub

What was your first ever job? At 11 years old I worked for myself washing cars down my street for $2 a pop! My first retail job at 13 was in a chicken rotisserie – I can 8th a bbq chicken in under a minute!

What did you want to be ‘when you were little’? A flight attendant so I could travel the world. By the time I was 21 and old enough to apply, I had travelled enough to realise that pushing a service trolley while jet lagged, inside, up hill, across time zones was going to be a lot more gruelling than I had initially thought!

How did ‘babescrub’ come about? My last role as a management consultant working in the oil & gas, and mining industry required travelling every month to all corners of the earth, leaving my children behind, and passing my husband like ships in the night. It was grueling. A weekend spent at Gwinganna Health Retreat was the catalyst for stepping out of corporate, and as a 40th birthday present to myself, I resigned to launch my own entrepreneurial projects – Babescrub is one of these!

Explain your usual day? Every morning starts with a walk to quieten my mind. Between 7:30 and 9am I make breakfast and school lunches for all the kids, check and post on my business social media feeds, eat porridge for brekkie, shower, walk my youngest to school, and take some calls on my return.

The rest of the day is diverse but essentially is about negotiating contracts, talking with bloggers and press, keeping check of manufacturing and fulfilment, working on our new lines of product in development, talking with designers, and ticking off my to do list.

I’m there for the children when they get home from school, have afternoon tea with them, then work from the kitchen table where they can grab me for homework questions, fights, school notes to be signed and accidents! Off to the gym at 6pm for yoga or pump while my husband cooks dinner, dinner with family where the daily catch-up happens, normally a bit more work after dinner, then I catch up with my main man over a herbal tea and we fall blissfully asleep by 10pm.

What ‘makes your day’? The little and not so little wins, when a customer sends us divine emails, when I have an aha moment and when some one that said no yesterday, made room for someone that said yes today – I LOVE this!!!!

Who’s your fashion icon? (s!!) Kate Moss, Twiggy, Giselle, Blondie, Mira and Thilda Berglind.

How would you describe your style? Eclectic! I love skinny jeans, pointy pumps and a white tshirt as much as I love a vintage boho skirt!

Three products you can’t live without? Eve Lom facial cleanser, Evo hair styling powder, Babescrub Body Soufflé.

4 fave songs on your iPod?
Landslide – Fleetwood Mac
Only Love Can Hurt Like This – Paloma Faith
Miami to Ibiza – Swedish House Mafia
Shut up – Black Eyed Peas

Fave perfume? I love layering Jo Malone fragrances depending on my mood. I die for this range!

What will you be doing 5 years time? Continuing to enjoy my family and building our brands!
