We all kinda know that already, but really… why should we and how can we stick to it, without getting bored?


Drinking water is one of the best things you can do to get glowing skin, and keep it looking young and clear, agreed? Yes! Well here’s the ‘why’s’ and ‘how’s’ motivation to get you help get you into ‘hydration mode’…

1. Why your skin looks better hydrated…

Okay, think of your skin like your kitchen sponge. If you look at your kitchen sponge, when it is dry, it is pretty contracted, shrivelled, and rigid, so it’s hard to bend. Add water, and all of a sudden the sponge softens and expands, and look better. okay,  just like a sponge, your skin needs that moisture to soften and expand.

So when you dehydrate your skin with caffeine, alcohol, or just lack of water, your skin will contract just like the ‘dehydrated’ sponge in your sink, making your pores are more firm and rigid, just like the “pores” of the sponge. When you have dehydrated pores that don’t flex, you not only have dry skin, you have a better chance of getting breakouts, acne, or even blackheads.  Add water / hydrate your skin and you’ll have more flexible pores, which are then able to stretch and release naturally secreted oils, making it soft and supple. Plus, the more pliable your pores are, the more able it is to release what needs to come out. And then once it’s released, it will contract back to what you ultimately want: tighter pores, softer skin and a gorgeous glow.

2. Signs you need more water…

Other than feeling thirsty {which actually means you’re alreadt dehydrated}, here are other signs you need to be drinking more:

You feel tired If you ever feel like you have “foggy brain” or feel tired throughout your day, try filling up on water before you reach for a caffeinated beverage (or fall asleep at your desk!) and see how you feel. Drinking warm water can also wake up your digestive track and liver so don’t forget to include some H2O in your morning routine as well.

Your Skin Is Dry You’d be surprised at how many people have dry skin and don’t attribute it to how much water they are consuming. Water is needed to help promote skin circulation at its base so that skin repair doesn’t decrease. Rather than lathering on the lotion, increase your water intake and see if your dry skin condition improves.

Your Eyes Look Sunken In If your eyes don’t appear bright and have a sunken-in, dull appearance (this could also be accompanied by dark circles around your eyes), then you are most likely dehydrated (and possibly tired, too). Our eyes need to stay lubricated and water is essential for tear production and keeping the glands moist. Up your water consumption to see immediate results.

You’re Having Trouble ‘Going’ Water helps to keep the intestines lubricated and can prevent chronic constipation. It only makes sense that you’d have difficulty with your bowel movements if you’re not staying hydrated. Keep things moving by getting your recommended amount of water.

3. How to hydrate…
